One day I was in a hotel room, and I wanted to read my book. I suddenly realized that no lamp was there…
With my laptop on my side and no energy at all to get up (twice!) to turn on and off the light, I thought: why not build a website that I can use as a lamp?
So I did. Satisfied, I read for 12 minutes. The book was really good. I was enjoying it so much that I wanted to share a consideration about it. But it was late at night, and everyone was sleeping. So I thought: "Maybe no one is going to read my consideration tonight, but another reader in the world would."
And he may want to share a thought himself as well.
That's how The Reading Lamp was born.
After 12 minutes of reading, the lamp offers a message left by another reader, somewhere in the world, after their own 12 minutes. And, if you want, you can leave your message for 1€.
The message can contain really anything. Whether you want to share a thought about the book you were reading (as it was for me), a quote you loved, a feeling from your day, a line of poetry — yours or someone else's — or something you never shared but feel like you want to: there's a place for you here ;)
The lamp will take care of your message and offer it to another reader in the world, who earned it the same way you did.
And perhaps, one day, the lamp will bring together the Readers of the World
through its light…
Who knows? ;)
